I "waste" my money a lot on books. I just bought 4 books this weekend, and I'm going to buy more tomorrow since there's a 25% off coupon at Forbidden Comics for reference books. A reference book in the comic world, btw, means any how-to draw book, and any book on any artist or genre.
So. The books I want are anything from the How To Draw Manga series (there's like 80million books in this series!) and a book about the art of one of my favorite mangas, Hana Kimi.

I love manga art, and I dream of making a small graphic book one day. I am currently honing in on my love for art and digital art, and I've decided to just concentrate on illustration and coloring via digital software (ie Photoshop). I was previously kind of all over the place, trying my hand at graphic design, but now I have a better idea of what I like to do with my artistic abilities. I really like cartooning, and manga at that. So my goal for now is to create and compile characters. My muse right now (haha) is my friend Chet, and I'm drawing a cartoon for a tshirt I will hopefully wear this weekend at a gig.
I've drawn him in pen, then I did a marker composite. Now I'm taking the original sketch and compiling it in Photoshop to color him digitally! It's fun to have a project and a goal. I wish I knew how to write a plot so I could get going with a graphic comic. I'm thinking of just making a comic out of one my songs using the lyrics. Hand That Tango, for instance!
All for now!
